Square Fiberglass Columns

  Square Fiberglass Columns differ from Round Columns in the manufacturing process. Our Square Columns use a Pultrusion Process which means that they are extruded rather than molded. Using high pressure extrusion methods, the fibreglass is extruded in a square tube shape and cut to length as needed. The Load Bearing (Structural ) capacity does not suffer and may even be stronger both due to the shape of the columns and the fact that the fibreglass is threaded through the entirety of the columns. Our Square Columns have a minimum Load Bearing Capacity of 8,000 lbs and are structural, they do not require additional support inside. 

  Square Fibreglass Columns lend themselves well to situations where there are Railings present. They are made with a thicker vertical portion in the middle of each side, giving screws more material to fasten securely. The Square Porch Columns arrive unfinished in an off white and require a coat of paint after installation, we recommend painting within four months of the installation. 

  We also offer Square PermaCast Columns which are heavier and can be ordered in a fluted or panelled style. The PermaCast columns are seldom required since the lighter Pultruded Columns have become available,  

   Standard sizes for the columns range from 6" x 6 foot - 12" x 12 foot, anything larger is considered a special order item that will take some time to get in.
