PVC Column Wraps

Fiberglass Columns aren't always the answer

It's common to run into situations in the Toronto GTA where a homeowner has already installed a structural wood support or a steel support is already in place. This is common in custom built homes and new backyard structures where the Architect has specified that the roof requires a support. In these situations, we opt not to cut the supports out, instead we wrap the support with a PVC Column Wrap. The type of PVC used to create the wraps is Slow Rise Cellular PVC which is a Vinyl plastic with all the benefits and appearance of wood without the negatives that come with wood over time. The PVC can be cut, nailed, screwed and painted just like wood.

PVC Wraps are equal in price to our fibreglass options, however, they are only used when absolutely necessary, some of our options are meant to recreate our Fiberglass Columns. PVC lends itself well to situations where more customization is required, our Carpenters can create many looks and customize Capitals on site if required. Wraps are only available in Square shapes, however, Tapered (Craftsman/ Shaker style) Columns are also available in PVC. PVC Column Wraps always requires a support, if you do not have one in place, we can install Pressure Treated Lumber for you. Its always best to use a brand new wood when installing wraps, we offer 4x4 or 6x6 lumber.

After installation, PVC will require a coat of paint, it arrives in a pure white however due to the work that is required to assemble, a COAT OF PAINT would be best.

The column wraps arrive unassembled but pre cut to the desired shape. Our team of installers will cut the wraps to the height required, on site. As pictured, there should be an existing support installed, either wood 4x4, 6x6 or Steel Support, we would assemble and install the Column Wrap around the existing support. Column Guru can supply and install an appropriate wood support if required.

By using our proprietary PVC adhesive, we can ensure a seamless finish that will not come apart over time. The PVC adhesive will bond the two sides together and not allow water or moisture to penetrate into the wood.

The size of your existing support and its position on the porch will determine the size of the wrap required.
